Mother's Day

I've had a good Mother's Day. It came down to a choice really. I found this yummy fruit arrangement in my fridge this morning, and I opened gifts that included bubble bath, lotion and candles. All of which made me smile. I've got a good hubby. Dinner included homemade burritos and peanut butter rice crispy treats.

I fell in love with this painting a couple of years ago. I saved up, used my Deseret Book coupon and brought the painting home. It's called "A Time To Laugh" by Liz Lemmon Swindle. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I found this sculpture at Marshall's a few years ago. I love it. Don't mind the dust on there.
I found a new favorite at Temple Square yesterday. I'll need to get my hands on a sculpture of it. Does it exist? I believe it's called "Moment of Joy". I saw it back in Nauvoo when I had just two children. I guess I needed five more to really appreciate it.

It's amazing how I'm drawn to these specific pieces of art. I love them. I love that I see myself in them. I love that I find joy in being a mother. Let's be real here. It's really hard sometimes. But over all, that's where I find real joy.

I'm starting a new tradition this year. I took pictures of each of my children with me on Mother's Day. It was fun finding poses that described my children's personalities or our relationships. The pictures, just like the art I purchase and admire everyday, brings me joy and a smile to my face.

Me and C.
What the heck?! He grew the two days I was gone. He's officially taller than me. I think we'll celebrate that tomorrow with the cousin's, " He finally reached 6 feet tall" party. Wow!

Me and A.

Me and G.

Me and J.

Me and little g.
Me and B.

Me and S.

My mom and me.
She's the mother I hope to be!

Just as I enjoy my favorite art pieces displayed around my home each day, I'll enjoy and find joy in my seven beautiful children. For they, are where I find joy.
To my dear friends that aren't mothers just yet; I hope you can find comfort in this quote. I cling to it every time I collapse on my bed in tears wondering "why?" on different challenges that I face.
"Weeping may endure for a nightime, but joy cometh in the morning".

I LOVE how you portray your love for your children! It really is beautiful. I feel like I have know you for a long time because of the way you talk about your children, if that makes sense. I hope you had a wonderful mother's day.

What a great tradition. I think I might steal that idea. You are right though, A's pic is choice. I would display that one somewhere.
