A letter from her missionary

We got our first letter in the mail from C.  Earlier this afternoon we had been watching for the mail lady to come by for two hours wondering where she was.  D's parents stopped by to visit on their way home from a vacation.  We conveniently sat in front of the living room window visiting when J saw the mail lady and exclaimed, "She's here!"  That's when I yelled, "J, go get it!"

He came running back waving a letter in his hands and then teasing us that there wasn't anything there.  He handed me the envelope.  There it was.  A letter from my Elder.  I called down the kids and we opened it up all together.

He said that he is safe at the MTC!  He's already learning Spanish and teaching discussions.  He even shared his testimony in Spanish with us.  I cried as I read his letter trying to comprehend such huge things.  I know that he is doing what he wants to do more than anything in this world.  I know that he is being watched over by a loving Father in Heaven.

As I folded up the letter and carefully placed it back into the envelope, my father-in-law said, "There's only one thing a woman loves more than a love letter.  A letter from her missionary."

I couldn't have said it better myself.  I'll be reading, re-reading the letters and chasing down the mail lady every Saturday.  It's a good day.  :)

It is so surreal that you have a missionary and it makes it seem like it's gonna be here before I blink. Gotta savor those moments I guess, eh?! I've enjoyed all the posts about him leaving, etc.
