Texas

After leaving Albuquerque, we were in a hurry to get to our next stop.  But in the meantime, we were excited to add Texas to the kids and my "visited states" list.  We were going to have lunch in Amarillo, but needed to gas up earlier than that.  We stopped in Adrian, Texas which was right over the border and the cute cashier lady had the thickest Texas accent.  I giggled when I heard it, not believing that you just have to cross the border to hear it.  Then she giggled at my accent.

Once we hit Amarillo, I pulled out the PB & J stuff and started making sandwiches on my lap and passing them back one by one.  Let's just say that the kids weren't too keen on Amarillo.  No, let me rephrase that.  They loved the "Wow!  Look.  Black and White cows!!" and "I didn't know there were black and white cows!".  It stunk as we whizzed by, but after hearing their excitement with seeing black and white cows, I had to roll down my window to get a picture.  Thing is, I knew it would stink and thought it would be funny.  What I didn't realize was exactly how BAD the smell would be.  S has a bionic nose so she was hilarious.  The boys were furious and I giggled and giggled trying not to get sick myself.  So, the cows were a thumbs up to my city kids and the smell, well, they'd rather not have smelled it.

Just leaving Amarillo we spotted a military heli-plane.  Or is it a Air-icopter?

Then we saw the first of many windmill things.  They are gigantic.  Just one propeller thing is longer than a semi.  Okay, lay off the whole "thing" thing.  I don't know what they are called.  :)

I loved the graffiti on the train cars.

And $3.19 for gas?  That's over fifty cents cheaper than back here at home.

Next stop?  Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Oh I love those black and white cows too. Too funny about the smells. I am sure my city kids would have reacted similarly!
