So, a couple nights ago there were piles everywhere. Too many piles!
My washing machine decided to die. It no longer agitated, it made awful noises and was leaking water. I'm just assuming the thing was dead. So, I waited. I waited to tell D that I needed a new one. Days had gone by. The piles of dirty clothes were getting taller and wider. I decided that D must know of my washing machine predicament. I don't know why I didn't tell him immediately. He was cute and said that we must go shopping for a new one immediately. I jumped all over it.
I ran to the store, looked at all the washing machines and picked out the one that screamed my name. It's huge inside and is energy efficient. Works for me.
I had to wait though to get it delivered. I got panicky knowing that my piles were growing by the day. How could they not with nine people in this house. That's not just nine outfits a day, that's workout clothes, lacrosse gear, volleyball outfits, peed sheets, and B's revolving closet. I had to wait until yesterday!!
Well, the night before my new washing machine was to arrive, there were even more piles that had never even crossed my mind. S got sick just after I went to bed. She's too little to tell me that she's about to puke so I just held her going through towel after towel. Once I got her settled next to me so that I could try to predict the next puke, little g came running in saying that he had had a nightmare. I told him to climb on in on the other side of me. That wasn't going to work. So, I laid S on more towels on the floor next to my bed. Somewhere in the middle of the night between puke sessions, I noticed that little g had peed my bed. What? I had no washer and now I had pee sheets to add to the pile of dirty laundry. Plus, my bed was now peed.
Anyway, the night was long. Way loooooooong.
Piles of kids in my bed. Piles of puke towels, pee towels, pee sheets, puke clothes, pee clothes, and all the other stuff a family of nine goes through in a week or a woman goes through in a month.
Piles have gone down to mounds and some are downright disappearing.
I got my new washer. It's life changing. I love it!

Glad you got a new washing machine! I hate it when the laundry piles up - it's overwhelming.
When my kids are sick I have them keep a large metal bowl (metal cleans up much easier than plastic) with them to puke in. Most of the time they get it all in the bowl and all I have to do is rinse it out and hand it back to them. When they are better I just run it through a sanitizing cycle in my dishwasher.Works much better than trying to catch it with a towel!
Ugh, hate it when kids are puking. Especially the little ones that can't catch it in bowls or towels or anything. Good luck with the cleanup.
I am so happy for you!! I know what it is like to not have a clothes washer. It's pretty frustrating knowing you can't just throw something (like peed sheets, messy clothes, puke towels, etc.) in the washer. I am SOOO HAPPY for you! I am sorry you had the stomach flu visit your house. Especially not fun when you have little kids. Good luck with the mounds.
I guess when it rains it pours. Glad your piles are getting smaller.
I have I ever told you that you just crack me up?!
